How to become an ICF coach?

1. To become a life coach, one should start by enrolling in a good ICF-certified institute. One should complete the entire coaching program from a good institute that is registered with the ICF and also follows all its standards. As per the ICF coaching rules, one must complete a compulsory 60 hours of coach-specific training via ACSTH or ACTP (Accredited Coaching Training Program).

2. One must complete a minimum of 100 hours of coaching to be certified by the ICF. In these 100 hours, one needs to be the practicing coach with at least 8 clients.

For a professional certified coach, at least 125+ hours of live coaching is compulsory and 500+ hours of live practice with coaching clients is necessary.                                                                  

For a Master Certified Coach, at least 200+ hours of live coaching is compulsory and 2500+ hours of live practice with coaching clients is necessary.

3. It often gets tough to find eight clients to make it 100 hours of coaching sessions. Hence, a lot of people choose to complete these 100 hours of coaching sessions with their classmates and the people they meet at the institute. 

4. ICF carries out regular surveys to ensure that all their rules and protocols are being followed by the institutes registered with them.
